Pizza in the title
I was in 10th grade when I had my first pizza, before that, I thought the pizza was this round bread thing which had some veggies on top, I didn’t know what cheese was or how it tasted and I didn’t know that it was in it.
If you ask me what was my experience tasting it for the first time, well at first I was so excited to try it that I put a hot slice straight into my mouth and burnt my tongue and the roof of my mouth and I couldn’t relate it to anything that I had tasted before. Plus for some reason, my school mates topped it with the given oregano and chili flakes and also ketchup making it my worst pizza experience ever.
This was not how I reacted!
I liked it but was not crazy over it, I had my second pizza after completing my 10th board exams and this time I was not in a hurry to eat didn’t let my school mates ruin it again for me. I had it again in domino’s and it was the only place I knew that served pizza and not a round bread filled with veggies.
I tried it once with and without the flakes and oregano, I liked it without them and it wasn’t too bad with it and one thing I realized is that adding ketchup to pizza doesn’t make it taste better, it overpowers it and all I could taste was ketchup.
And since then I’ve been eating pizza regularly and I’m never satisfied and I still want to eat, I did not have the best first experience with it but I fell in love over the period of time. I’ve eaten pizza from many different places, occasionally go on a hunt to find the best pizza whenever I’m in a new city and there are few favorites of mine which I won’t give out easily.
The one thing that I found common with pizza, especially in India, is that most places don’t serve pizza, It’s just bread with topping on it. Some of them serve cardboard pizza meaning, it tastes like cardboard and I hate those places. And lastly, they put too many toppings on the pizza, like if you eat it, you can never taste the crust, sauce or cheese, your mouth is filled with the toppings. I don’t get where they get this logic from? Maybe it’s the mentality that people expect more for the price they pay and the pizza places be like “Let’s cheap out on cheese and add too many topping!”.
Like I’ve never heard anyone give a reason to try a pizza at a particular place because they put a lot of topping. And most places cheap out on cheese, like there no cheese pull, not even a bit.
What’s the ideal pizza for me if you ask? Thin crust, not too thin and crispy and it should have the right amount (I’m not telling you the right amount, that’s my secret)of sauce with enough cheese and no toppings cooked in a wood-fired oven. (I love Margherita ❤). You might be wondering what? I don’t give my secrets so easily. I’ll open my pizzeria in the future come and taste it for yourself.
Pizza is my second love, who is the first you ask? It’s chocolate. I can live a day without pizza but can’t with chocolate and that explains the cavity I have.
This is my expression every single fucking time I eat pizza.
