It sounds a bit wired tho, the main reason why I’m writing this letter is few of my friends said and I quote “Dude you don’t drink or smoke or even hit on girls or come and hang out with us, what stories are you gonna tell your kids?”, and I didn’t respond to them anything but I think it’s a great idea to write a blog about it, so I thought let’s write a letter to my kid.

Dear Kids,

I’m taking the time to write this to you today, and have no clue whether you will be able to read it or not.

One of the main reasons that I’m writing this letter is because I wish someone had told me these things earlier in life!.

And it’s very important that you should understand that no one in this entire universe is perfect and no one can be, we humans are imperfect in nature that is what makes us unique and remember no one has it all figured out, even your dad.

And That’s OKAY!, it will take time to get things going, just hang in there!.

The day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.

You are who you are. The earlier in life you accept this and get on with it, the easier and sweeter you shall live out your days. Let’s start embracing it instead of hiding it under the covers because living true to yourself is the real paradise. Get to know who you are, believe in who you are and always strive to be the better version of yourself!.

In order to get to KNOW yourself, you need to spend more time WITH yourself.

Find something you love and keep doing that for the rest of your life, and I don’t mean just one thing you can have multiple passions in life as long as you love them and keep doing them, remember your work is going to fill a large part of your life, so make sure you love what you do, and don’t let anybody not even me tell you, you can’t do it!

Don’t Let Anybody Tell You What To Do

You are the expert on you.

“Hey. Don’t ever let somebody tell you… You can’t do something. Not even me. Alright? You got a dream… You gotta protect it. People can’t do something’ themselves, they wanna tell you, you can’t do it. If you want something’, go get it. Period.”

Always remember, Life is a binary, it’s either zero or a one, you either do it or you don’t, you either have it or you don’t, you either win or you learn, there is no in-between, you have to choose whether to do it or not, you hold the power in your hands, make a choice that you will not regret for the rest of your life!

Always have your own taste for things! don’t follow the trend, following the heard is easy, be your own taste. But that doesn't mean you shouldn’t follow some cool things which even you like and always be proud of your taste, just like me :P. Don’t do what others do, If you are doing what everyone else is doing then you’re doing it wrong. Know What You Stand For I stand for being real. For being who you are no matter what everyone says about it. Being anything else is living a lie. And it will kill you on the inside far before you die on the outside. I stand for looking out for my own best interest. You have your own personality, your own thoughts and opinions, and your own sense of humor. You have your own interests, your own talents, and your own way of doing things. I celebrate your individuality and uniqueness and am so honored to be part of your life. As you continue to grow and become an adult, you will live your own life. You will have times of happiness and times of disappointment. You will fall in love, and you will have your heart broken. Life has its ups and downs and is not always fair, but I know your strength and resilience will see you through. May you always know your worth and how incredibly precious you are! As your dad, it is my privilege to impart these important truths to you. And lastly always be open-minded!.

“We all are special in our own ways, do not let the world tell you different is bad, Remember Different is special.”

“If a man knows not to which port he sails, no wind is favorable.” ― Seneca

Don’t be afraid to take risks. Take big, bold risks! You can accomplish great things by taking risks. Living life too cautiously and keeping the status quo will leave you with regrets. Get outside of your comfort zone and watch as that comfort zone expands. The more risks you take, the easier it becomes. The risk might have a different meaning to different individuals. Smoking, boozing, being irresponsible is not the risks that I want you to take, those are the risks losers take, and you aren’t one. Take risks that will not make you regret, take risks that will help you reach where you want to be and above all have the courage to sacrifice anything and everything.

“Bravery is the solution to regret”

Live and love life unconditionally — Don’t have any expectations from anyone, even me, live your life, don’t bargain with it.

“It is not the man who has too little, but the man who craves more, that is poor. ” — Seneca

“If you expect something in return every-time, you aren’t living your life, you are bargaining with it!” — Bharat Kulkarni.

Seneca said “It is not that we have so little time but that we lose so much. ... The life we receive is not short but we make it so; we are not ill provided but use what we have wastefully.”. Choose wisely with whom you spend your time with and on what, because time once lost cannot be renewed!. Always invest your time wisely!.

No matter what, I will always be there for you and support you.

Most importantly if you are bunking your classes, make sure you don’t do it much often, you will lose the specialness of it!.

In the end, the best advice I can give you is this:

Be true to who you are and take one step at a time. There’s no rush.

"The whole future lies in uncertainty: live immediately." - Seneca

I wish you the best of luck on your journey,

Dad

This was a tough one to write and yeah there are many other things that I want to say, maybe in the next part of this letter.

That’s the end of “A letter to my kid!” Part — I

Thank you for reading, hope you enjoyed it, let me know what do you think about it and don’t forget to like and share and do all those good stuff!.

Your’s truly,

Bharat Kulkarni
